Thanks for taking the time to confirm, Paul.
@FiiO could you please take note of this, as it makes the change to folder play through rather useless, and if there is ever another firmware could this bug be fixed? It would be nice...

It's pretty crazy how features get introduced and advertised without the functionality of those features actually being properly tested...sigh, Fiio.

@Brooko , i read your review of fiio m3 and ve monk on headfonia.
they're awesome. i enjoyed reading every word. i'm a huge fan of you.
i never thought i'd get a chance to talk to you. very pleased to see you here.
now, suggest me a pair iem/earbuds under 50$ for my first dap, which is the fiio m3.
I can get uiisii ba t8, kz zs5, kz zst pro.
my first concern is soundstage and the next is clarity. bass is not so important to me.
sincerely, Musa from Bangladesh.

It might pay to describe the type of sound you are looking for first. Do you like neutral, bassy, bright ..... ?

Next - do you prefer in-ear, earbuds ..... ?

I'm yet to learn or experience what neutral and bright means. but, I'm sure I don't prefer bassy sound. it's been 6 months since I received my m3, and I'm still using the bundled earbuds.
I like the way they sound, which is clean.
can you kindly suggest one of each type, earbuds and IEMs.

thank you very much for explaining.
according to your explanation, in which category the fiio m3's earphone falls into?
and do they differ much from monk+?
I do have monk+ in my mind.
my budget is 30-40 USD.
do you know any kz zs iem?

I haven't heard any KZ IEMs, and TBH that price point is not really my forte.

I would call the M3 buds slightly on the warm side, but quite balanced. The Monk plus are a little more vivid and a little clearer. You can change the sound to your preference by using different covers.

after the update i took off my dusty FiiO M3 from the drawer.
finally we have a dark theme!!
I love them with the panda pk2s, very smooth musical sound well extended with nice sub bass.
I find them more balanced than with monk+ imo, also not harsh at all. Monk+ are a bit harsh and have poor treble resolution. the yuin shell are also more comfortable than the mx500.
also, they look so cute together.
Best for casual listening, in a good way.

I have to report, the new theme's visual guide for the audio balance (R/L) doesn't point to the right representative lines, looks to be one point below the actual numbers?
I usually set mine at R1 because of my otitis you see and it looks, wrong when I check the setting again

You're right, it is offset up one notch - but at least you can read the "0" or L1 figure in the box so won't set it wrong by mistake.

Yeah just a bit upset that a very simple thing to check still pass the debug process..

thank you very much @Brooko for your recommendation of ve monk+.
although I have been planning of a get a pair for a long time, your words assured me that it would be a good decision.
do you know any better earbuds with wider soundstage. wider than the monk+'s.

Perhaps try asking in the main earbud thread. There are a lot of people in there who have tried many different earbuds. My experience is rather limited (I’m more of an IEM guy)
