I had always thought:

LO= Line Output
PO= Phone Output

Doh! "PO" = "power outlet." I should have been able to figure that out myself. I blame too much going on.

I always think of it as ‘Phones Out’ so we have both learnt something 👍

They seem to differentiate it from line out which is just a voltage signal into a very high impedance (thousands of ohms) amplifier input with no need for much current to drive a load which makes ‘Power Out’ make sense in that is provides a higher current to drive comparatively low impedance loads of headphones.

What happens to a FiiO Q15 if we equip it with pure class A amplification provided by the AKPA10 (enhanced version of the Teraton Alpha amplifier contained in the SP3000)? It happens that it reaches the price of the Shanling H7 (which does not have a balanced line out 4,4mm)... and in terms of performance? We'll find out soon... as soon as it arrives...

I think that screenshot is for a different device. The Q15 only shows LO and PO in the 3.5 (SE) output selection. Same with the 4.4 (Bal) output selection. And the Coax on the Q15 is input only, I'm pretty certain.

Yeah sorry, it was just a reference that popped up in a search, I should have cut the bottom off, apologies for the confusion.

Because I can't help myself, I've went ahead and ordered a Q15 from the Fiio EU store today. Paid a bit extra for quicker delivery, so I have a small hope that it will arrive before the weekend 🤞

So, should I update the firmware first thing, or isn't the newest always the best? 🙂

The latest firmware update fixes a host of issues. I've found the Q15 to be pretty close to perfect once I installed it.

I do have an issue where I need to unplug the source before switching into/out of MQA mode to enable/disable PEQ. Keeping it plugged in causes general wonkiness. And, I'm not 100% sure why MQA has to be turned off for PEQ to be enabled.

But that's all I've run into.

USB mode with my Android phone would not work out the box for me. Had to update the FW before it worked.
