As i finally decided that i want it bad ... i am waiting friday to recive my new red fiio!!!!!!!
I have one first question thoug

Will the X5 drive my BeyerDynamic DT 990 Pro 250ohm ? or do i need additional an amp?

It should be fully able to drive them to full potential!

A5 might make the sound more to your liking, or other AMPs, but X5--3 alone is very good!

  thank you very much!!!!
i wasnt in a mood to spent more money on an extra amp at this time!!
maybe later one fiio k5 for home use

K5 is great for home usage and having that dock mode is surely going to make your day better!

But yeah, X5-3 is very potent, don't worry one bit about needing an amp. You won't need one at all! You might want one or add one because you feel like it, but you are going to enjoy music to the fullest with X5-3 alone

So you want another DAP recommandation in the X5-3 thread?... Why tho?...

I think that X5-3 is the best smooth DAP out there. The best I heard anyways! And I heard Mojo, Hugo, even orpheus 2 full setup...

Just thought other people would have listened to other DAPS. I live in Jersey, Channel Islands, with absolutely no specialist dealers, so have to rely on other people's experience.

What thread should I use for such a question?

No thread in particular to be honest. But in X5-3 thread, people are going to recommend X5-3.

For the record, I am using a FiiO X5-2, heard all FiiO and Sony DAPs and plan to make all efforts to get a FiiO X7 next gen when it comes out.

I will recommend X5-3 if you like smooth signatures or X7 + AM 03 if you like energetic / neutral signatures with sweet mids.

X5-2 is practically solid stable, has a neutral-ish signature with sweet mids as well.

What are you looking for that doesn't let you sleep though?

X5-2 makes me happy, X5-3 would make me happy, X7 would make me really happy. If you're not happy to begin with, no DAP can brighten your day enough - happiness comes from within... The things that made me happy DAP wise were the first time I heard X7 and the first time I heard X5-3 while on tour. Also when going from Cowon J3 to X5, I was smiling for weeks and when going from X5 to X5-2 it was a really fun experience. Totally made my day better in both cases

An interesting observation. I was thinking about buying a DK1 (or maybe a K5) to use as a dock at work. So I'm quite interested to hear if anyone else has experienced this as well.

I also have the DK1 and haven't come across this problem, but will try and replicate it.

I am also considering the K5. There are a number of positive reviews of the combination of the K5 with the X7; would the F5iii benefit equally? How does the amp module differ (if at all) between the F5iii and the X7?

Thanks for the information. Not looking for anything in particular from the upgrade of the X5ii, as I quite like the sound with my Fidue A83, Shure SE846 and my new Audioquest Nightowl's. I've only tried them with the A5 amp. Obviously, they all have their particular sound, but I do have a soft spot for the Fidue A83 straight out of the X5ii. I wouldn't be unhappy if that was all I had. I like a detailed sound, with a good amount of accurate bass, but am a bit treble sensitive. Maybe I should wait for the X7 2nd Gen if it is coming out this year?

No problems driving my DT-880 (250) and HD600, even at low gain. I use moderate to low level volume btw, so YMMV.

Thank you. When you get a chance, can you please try creating a playlist even with just 4 songs if you put 2 on the internal memory & the other 2 already on your sd card? Much appreciated. If it works seamlessly then I'll get the full versions (Gold + paid MMA) so that I can create smart playlists & work a bit hard / longer at getting the sync profiles right. I think paid MMA does wifi sync best after initial bulk usb upload? Also, I think MM EQ doesn't drop volume like Fiio Music?

I set up X5, X5 Card 2, X5 Card 1 Playlists. You can configure each playlist to go to available devices under options. Load each playlist with what you want in each and synch. Pretty simple.

I imagine that WiFi synch is ok as long as the amount of files you are synching isn't large each time.

MM EQ vs Fiio Music, no idea on that.

Thank you. Can a single playlist include songs from each of the sd cards & internal memory?

"...Happiness comes from within...", words to live by and a quote from the "Trolls" movie! Also, this can be applied to a DAP search. I headed out on a quest for a new DAP and after a little searching, found that the one I already have (not a Fiio product) satisfied me completely (usability, sound, UI, storage, build quality) and my happiness was already there in that player and inside me myself! It doesn't hurt that SE846 are delivering the sounds!

  Dear JoeA1010,

Sorry to hear about that. Can you take the card out using the tweezers for help?

Best regards

Tweezers don't fit into the tiny hole.  I tried a tiny nail to try to move the card into reach, but I can't seem to find anything tiny enough to make the card move at all.  I don't know exactly what the other people have used to get this done, but I can't seem to find anything small enough.
