Hi all my head fier friends

This afternoon I got the chance to do A B Ing comparison between Samsung Galaxy note 2

Vs Galaxy S 3.

Source : Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Samsung Galaxy S 3

Dac amp : Venturacraft Go Dap X for idevice and Samsung android smartphones

Headphone : Sennheiser Momentum
Akg K 495 NC

Music : audiophile , jazz and classic

Songs : Keiko Lee : Street life
O percussion : jazz Variant

Direct comparison note 2 vs S 3 and plus Ventura Go Dap X

High :
Note 2 : more extended high , very clean and clear sounding high and smooth
S 3. : high is not so extended like note 2

Cymbals on note 2 has more volume and has better detail .

Mid :
Note 2 : very sweet and clear sounding mid
S 3. : thicker sounding mid but not as clear as note 2

We can hear the voices from the singer more clear and clean from note 2
S 3 midrange is not so clean and clear like fom note 2

Bass :
Note 2 : better impact and full body and more dettail and clean bass than S 3
S 3. : bass body is boomy , the bass is not so detail like note 2

S 3 bass quality to big and boomy , the bass cover the other frequency , that the mid and high
Not as clear from Note 2.

Separation :
Note 2 : has better separation , that we can hear the music placement better than S 3

Soundstage :
Note 2 : has better and wider soundstage and better depth than S 3

Conclusion :
Note 2 : overall has better tonal balance than S 3
More black background than S 3
Better bass body than S 3
We can hear music for long term without fatigue
More detail and clarity than S 3

This is my personal opinion

Left Samsung Galaxy S 3 , right Samsung Galaxy Note 2 , above Ibasso DX100

Left iPhone 4 S and Go Dap X , middle Samsung Galaxy S 3 , right Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Above IBasso DX 100

Plus Akg K 495 NC

thanks for the analysis.  can any1 else agree with these general results?  im debating whether to get the iphone 5 or note 2.  as a regular iphone user, one thing holding me back from switching to android was that i heard iphones generally have superior sound quality compared to android devices.

I am as fan boy idevice , this time I pass to buy iPhone 5 , because the sound quality below
My iPhone 4 S.
I bought smart phone mostly for portable audio use ,
Samsung galaxy note 2 I bought after I heard the audio quality before.
This is my first android phone I ever have.
Overall I am quiet happy with the Sq from galaxy note 2 as dap .
I am waiting for the next iPhone 5 s:D

I have done the audition between iPhone 5 vs my iPhone 4 S as well :

Jazz Variant percussion music

High :
iPhone 4 S : more detail and more volume compare to iPhone 5
If you heard the cymbals in the percussion song jazz variant
You have better decay and clarity .

Overall : the sound quality from iPhone 4 S is better than iPhone 5
Direct play or with amp set up , the Sq is the same , iPhone 4 S
Better than iPhone 5.

For all my idevice / iPhone , I have a looked at gsmarena.com as my
Reference to buy the latest idevice Product .

The important think as my reference I have a look at the stereo cross talk
iPhone 4 S has the stereo crosstalk - 93
iPhone 5 has the stereo crosstalk - 76,5

From this very big different I don t have no interest hunting iPhone 5
Normally my friend help me to buy from Ausie , because IPhone 5 will be
Launching in Indinesia 6 month later.

This is personal impression

... "Power amp and Neutron....They can play my 24 bits WAV music files".

Correct me if i am wrong, but I understood that without modifying the firmware they Will DOWNSAMPLE the 24/96mhz or 24/124 down to 16/44 ? They will not play them bit-PERFECT ? Isn't it ?

What I mean with the standard player , I can not play cheeky record in 24 bit file

With these two player power amp and neutron , I can play my 24 bits file music

I don't know they can play bit perfect or not with these two players

Yes you CAN play those 24 bits files, but i believe that they are modified to 16/44 before they reach the DAC ( internal or external). Android do not support 24 bits.

IMO my NOTE II direct off HO sounds as good as the sansa clip+. with the eq flexibility of poweramp its even better. its also more than decent via BT APT-X to the Samsung HS3000 (with my choice of iems ofcos).

i lub ma NOTE II in more ways than I

So hiw does your Note 2 compare to Iphone 4s?

iPhone 4 s vs galaxy note 2 :

Personally I prefer iPhone 4 s , because the SQ more life and has more power also to drive
My iems and portable headphone with low impedance .
High : more crisp
Mid : sweet and life
Bass : very good bass impact and faster bass speed than galaxy note 2

Samsung galaxy note 2 : the SQ is smooth , if you like smooth sound than galaxy note 2 is good

Until now : my iPhone 4 S still my best sounding I device
