I borrowed Clear for a few days. Design nice case, although light grey colour is beauty but look of the Focal headphone is not my taste. Anyway important is Clear is great sounding headphone, there is not much to worry about. It is very well balance not dark not bright, vocal instruments have nice touch of realism, music flows, it is for fine listening very universal across genres, even on worse records Clear give good focusing airness organics which for me is mark quality not many headphone do this actually, also good for lower volume listening which I like, not hard to drive although sound could be for sure further with separate amp, unfortunately have only Brooklyn DAC at home. Some shortcomings can be sure depth of the soundstage but localization is pretty good as well as clean background details accuracy. What I am missing is a more weight in music, bite, also better extension or bigger/better acoustic presure as giving speakers which can goes across border but this is headphone and I believe with separate amp it could be in some way maybe there. Overall expensive but very very good headphone.
Next step for test will be if everything will goes on plan LCD2C, and than HEXv2.
I concede that not everyone will not like the color - but I feel like"ugly" is way to strong a word for this headphone. It's just different than what you are used to. Plus, you can always get the Pro's if you don't like the silver. I like the red and black - but I think both versions are gorgeous.
You want to talk about an ugly headphone? I have no idea how it sounds - but Diana - I'm looking at you,
What is problem I am not native english speaking so I can not play with words. I just do not like look of the all Focal headphone please do not find on it something more, I can say the same for HD800, Diana, chrome grill on LCD4, plastic on iSines etc.
When the headphones are on your head, you can't see them unless you're watching yourself in a mirror. It's like trying to stick your elbow in your ear...
Interesting you mention this- I have heard of this happening with a ton of different headphones and I have never heard it before. Not to be stupid, but is there a common sound you would assosocate with hair being inside of the driver?
I thoguht people on anothe thread (different headphone) talked about bass being muffled is a sign of hair in the driver of a headphone.
I’ve never experienced this with any headphone other than a single Clear we sold. After a bit of conversation the customer found the hair, removed it and problem solved. He described it as a cracking sound
I've been really enjoying the Clear paired with Liquid Carbon, but was wondering if anyone here knows whether it's possible (and, if it is, who could do this work) to mod the 1.2m cable into a 2.5mm balanced cable for use with a DAP? Any ideas are welcome!
Just got a Lyr 3 in today with the new Tung Sol 6NS7.
Initial impressions with the the Clear's are these are a FANTASTIC match. Great dynamics and some lively warmth. I'll make sure and get some decent time in with this combo over the weekend.

Probably, I would use a xlr female to 2.5mm balanced male adapter. A decent adapter is available around $50. A 1/4' TRS to 2.5mm balanced adapter wouldn't work and might damage an amp.
Or I would probably go after a new short cable terminated with 2.5mm balanced...
Anyone toggle back and forth with a planar headphone? Last night I dug up my old hifiman he 400. The overall warmth was a lot of fun. Makes me wonder if the crystal clear headphones are a little over rated.
