Had both. Clear MG has the slam. It’s like something physically hits your jaw. listen to YOOKIE - Subs on it and it nails it deep and hard.
You won’t get that effect on 800S. However this bass slam thing gets old really quick. When listening to Eminem or The Weekend on Clear MG you really notice a weirdness in midrange. It almost feels V shaped to me. Also MG is very intimate.
I prefer 800S on bass quality, comfort, tonality, stage and imaging.
I prefer Clear MG on bass quantity. However, without EQ it’s unlistanable and there’s no magic of Summit-Fi product like 800S.

A while ago, I tested the Focal Clear Mg against the HD800S, the DCA Noire & Meze 109 Pro on a iFi hip dac and cranked the last track of Mahler's Symphony No. 2 as loud as I could until I hear a hint of clipping or distortion. The Clear gave way first. Plus I'm a detail freak and I felt that the Clears were a bit too "relaxed" for my taste.
