Who'd have thunk that Daniel Lopatin, the Canadian dude doing wild retro-synth experiments in the early '00s, would go on to produce some of the biggest and best pop albums and some of the most memorable film scores in the present? Certainly not me. What's really wild is that for as much as his style and visibility have changed his music, this collection of his early EPs still stands tall among his best and more recent work. Fantastic stuff from beginning to end.

Szalayi / RU7 / Qobuz

A local band I admired growing up, they found some success with the release of this album and never quite topped it... This is an indie / emo masterpiece imo. Haunting album, I regret not giving it a spin when it was colder out.
edit - god, All I See is an incredible song... I always forget how perfect it is.

Burson Conductor 3 > Cayin HA-3A > Arya Stealth
It's another evening listening to Vorna, but this time from the album "Sateet palata saavat", which basically means the rain will return. This song is actually the first one I encountered from the band for what feels like many years ago. Like many great Finnish songs, this one has a strong element of melancholy that is delicately intertwined with the melodic and heavy moments. Beautiful.

Blunt Chunks - The Butterfly Myth
Szalayi / RU7 / Qobuz

Really nice little folk/pop album that was featured on Qobuz. Especially vibing with the sheer amount of different instruments and crisp production.
