Lydia - Illuminate

Szalayi / RU7 / Qobuz

A local band I admired growing up, they found some success with the release of this album and never quite topped it... This is an indie / emo masterpiece imo. Haunting album, I regret not giving it a spin when it was colder out.

edit - god, All I See is an incredible song... I always forget how perfect it is.
I've listened to this one a few times today, really nice, thanks for the recommendation 👍

Listening on the new Fiio Q15 and the Tanchjim Origin at the moment :)

SR2 + Deftones. A true classic. Still their best IMO.

To address the topic of this thread the 'phones I am using right now are the Hifiman Edition XS fueled by some Frank Zappa solos, and for this purpose I find them superior to my Aryas, both have stealth magnets. Had comfort issues with the Edition XS initially but eventually I became used to them. Great value and sturdier than most HFM cans, but a fairly large head is required lest those jumbo cups slide down and rest against your jaw since clamp is almost nonexistent. Yet, they produce deep, well-controlled bass. Go figure. Happy camper :gs1000smile:

That song is at the beginning of a few of my "test tracks" playlists. And I do love it. But isolating the left channel in the intro also helps find setup screw ups quickly. I was amazed at how different my system sounded after a reconfiguration. Not better or worse, but just different. I was hearing new emphasis and percussion lines. Until I got to another track that had vibes and horn hard panned to different sides. And that's when I realized I had flipped L/R when going into my amp. It's a simple way to hear songs for the first time again. Now I check after making adjustments to the rat's nest.

If you like the country songbirds from back in the day, check out Patty Loveless, Trisha Yearwood, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Martina Mc Bride. Enjoy.

I'm a bit musically frustrated 🥴
This is a great album, and I like listening to it. But all along I catch myself thinking "But Albion - Lakesongs of Elbid is better...", I've kinda been a bit ruined by that album, as I like it so much 😁 At leat when it comes to this genre.

I've got the HD600's on my head, and they are plugged into the Aune S17 Pro, which is getting it's signal from the R7 🎶
I listened to Albion-lake songs. Quite good. It definitely crosses into the Pagan/Celtic Folk genre which I like. Appreciate learning about a new band which is why this head-Fi thread is so addictive.

A little Pagan Folk to change things up. This band is German as are the lyrics. Makes it an interesting listen for someone who likes the music but doesn’t know the language.
