For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Today brings the return of the HiFiman HE6se V2's. So "open sounding" after a week of closed backs. Ideal set-up for a sunny Monday to kick off the week.

Are you running these off the V220? Just curious.

To keep things topical:

I needed something more appropriate for moving around the shop so I threw on the SoftEars Twilights and plugged them into my Hiby RS6.

Currently listening to an album out of left field: Sister Sledge's 1979 Disco Era classic We Are Family. At the suggestion of a friend I'm going through the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Due list that assigns you one random album to listen to per day. The albums come from a list of 1001 classic albums generated by music history and pop culture experts. I'm only a couple dozen albums in so far, but it has been interesting and entertaining so far to see what's on the list. I've been having fun doing it!

Do you have a link? I would be interested in that.

Edit - also how do you like the twilights?

I went searching for the best all around single DD under $1k in the last few months of 2023. I tried a ton of different IEMs and the Twilights beat them all, for me. They're quite a special IEM and they make it hard to stop listening. They're just so darn good!

As for the link: https://1001albumsgenerator.com

I think pretty much anyone who enjoys music of many different styles and genres will have fun with this. You listen to an album a day and then you rate it from 1 to 5 stars. It even has a place under the album where you can make listening notes so when you review it down the road you know what you were thinking while listening. I've been including what gear I've been using in my sessions on the notes.

Have fun and happy listening! 🤘😎

I'm wearing iBasso SR2 on my head after some time. I haven't yet fully decided do I either like these or sell them away.

Reminds me quite a bit of Senn's HD 600-series. Kind of forward sounding and warm tilted. I find the forwardness little annoying in certain tracks but it's something I can get used to. Marketed as an "open back" but wouldn't really call them like that. Maybe not even "semi-open". More like a poorly sealed closed headphone like stuff from Fostex. Ample bass repsonse without actually being bass heavy which is nice. Staging isn't great and they sound more compressed than I would like but there's some decent imaging and separation. I have never gave these a listen with the other set of earpads, perhaps trying them would be a good idea.

This is one of those seminal albums that lies at a cultural nexus between what/who went into it (Chic) and what/who has come out of it (a who's who list of '90s-era hip-hop and 2000s-era EDM stars). Despite that, I still vote for Bet Cha Say That to All the Girls (1983) as their best album. "BYOB" is killer, and so is Saint Pepsi's downtempo 2013 remix "Cherry Pepsi."

"We Are Family" became the theme song for the 1979 World Series Champions
