Meanwhile (2023) by Klone - Discovered on roon radio using Pain of Salvation as a seed, they are a French prog-rock/metal band and this is the latest in a long run of albums going back at least to 2004. Vocals are in English, which is a relief for me as I don't speak French and the music is excellent and I will be investigating the rest of their discography tout de suite. Thought I'd give the DT1990's a run out this evening as I haven't tried them with the V222 and the combination is pretty sweet, between the EQ 4.5db bass shelf, the punchy bass of the headphones and the low grunt of the amplifier the effect is quite grin inducing and the sound is great for this kind of music.

Man, this amp/headphone combo is killer. I don't know if the 3D+ feature that iFi has on some of its products is anything more than just a treble shelf, but whatever it is, it really lifts the veil on this headphone and makes it almost speaker-like to listen to. The mids are so thick and detailed, too, and holy heck can these headphones take a sub-bass shelf. Amazing for a super-isolated closed-back. Really a super-enjoyable synergy here.
iMac > Qobuz > Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE (NOS) > Schiit Freya+ Tube Pre > Ferrum OOR & Hypsos > Hifiman Susvara
The musicianship on this track is off the charts. The drummer (Stéphane Gallan) absolutes kills the groove but still manages to leave space for everyone else to sonically take the stage. It's Jazz, it's funk, it's fusion, it's even rock at times...
As a newcomer to IEMs, I'm stunned by just how much fit matters to the sound and feel of a pair of IEMs. Tip-rolling for IEMs is nothing at all like pad-rolling on full-size headphones. It's many orders of magnitude more impactful. Pads for headphones are playing with maybe 2-5% of the overall sound profile, but with IEMs it seems like it can be anywhere from 5% to a full 50% of the overall sound profile. All to say, I've spent the past couple weeks endlessly trying different tips with my Symphonium Meteor, determined to find the (impossibly) "perfect" tips for them.

Ghosted II (2024), Oren Ambarchi, Johan Berthling, Andreas Werliin
A direct follow-up to this trio's fantastic 2022 release, Ghosted. A bit slower and moodier than their first release, but it has a surprising amount of momentum for otherwise slow-moving tunes. The album lives somewhere in the vicinity of ambient, noise, and jazz.
