Funny, i emailed the U.S. distributor a few days ago and got response Tues.  Glad it appears to work though.

Hello Da,
The HP-P1 is not yet supported by the iPhone 5.  It will take some time until after the release to confirm compatibility.

Yes, mine works fine.  The lightning to USB cable is currently only available in 19".  I'm sure it won't be long before we start seeing shorter and aftermarket versions.

I could retire on old cables and magnetic media purchases.....

Jax, i have the hp-p1 and tried it with my iPhone 5, but when I connect them via the lightning cable, the iPhone simply plays out of the iPhone speakers--it's not recognizing that it's connected to the hp-p1. Any thoughts?

UPDATE: forget that last post of mine. I can confirm that the Fostex HP-P1 is compatable with the iPhone 5 using the supplied lightning to USB cable. However, at least if your unit is like mine and running version 1.0 of the firmware, the device will have a tendency to try to "charge" the iPhone 5 instead of receive the audio signal. This tends to happen more if you have the hp-p1 plugged into to a power outlet prior to connecting the iPhone 5. Not sure if this also happens on those units running updated firmware. To avoid this, make sure the hp-p1 is NOT plugged into an external power source when you connect the iPhone 5. Then, once the device recognizes the iPhone and accepts the audio signal, you can plug the hp-p1 into the ac outlet at that point without any problem.

Interesting.  I didn't have any problem at all, but I think my firmware is current.  I also did not have mine plugged in...just went straight into it with the USB cable and turned it on and immediately had sound to my IEMs.

Interesting the little variables that make it all work.
