Hi
I currently have a set of Ultrasone HFI 780s. I find them pretty uncomfortable and am looking for a change.

I want headphones with great deep bass and I listen to most genres of music especially rock. I reckon it's between the Denon AH-D2000 or 5000. Are the AH-D5000 a lot better than the 2000? Would you recommend any over these two?

Thanks

I can't speak for the D5000 but I've had my 2000's for many years.  They are really incredible.  I also own the 780's and find them to be very uncomfortable for longer periods....like an hour or more.  I think I prefer the bass in the 780 over the 2000 because there's just something about the ultrasone bass that I love.  It seems to be like a decent subwoofer.  Tuned just right so that it doesn't always boom.  Just when called on.

Don't get me wrong.  The 2000s will likely not disappoint when it comes to delivering solid bass performance.  I think the mids are slightly more recessed than the 780.   But if you were never a fan of the highs in the780, then you'll love the 2000.  Plus the fact that you can wear them forever without any discomfort is great.  Just know that they are like wearing flying saucers on your head!

I would have a hard time saying which one I like better.  I have read and heard from lots of sources that the difference between the D2000 and 5000 may not be worth the extra few hundred bucks.
