Am finding YouTube music to be a terrible replacement for Google Play. Not a fan of Spotify or other "rental" streaming platforms.

I would ideally like to stream my music through a private server and have a simple interface similar to Itunes on desktop.
No album art or pictures of any kind. Just lists of artists, albums, songs, and genres.

If I could somehow upload all of my music to a server and have an old school IPOD-like interface on my Android, that would be great.

Any ideas?

Are you looking to run your server at home or have the service provide the server?? If you can leave a computer running at home, plex might be your best bet. If you can't, look at Doubletwist's cloud player, which lets you stash files in one of the cloud services like Dropbox
