There's a USB filter for the Pico DAC? Is it only available for the DAC-only Pico?

Hey Justin

I just bought one of your dac only units. Does it come
with a USB filter?

Thanks!

No, what is a USB filter?

I have no idea! Maybe I misunderstood. But ZephyrSapphire mentioned something about the 'filter for USB' in a post on the previous page. Maybe it's an internal filter that I know nothing about?

Sorry for the confusion! Please enlighten me.

So my understanding is that 24/96 files will get downsampled to 16/48 (in Mac iTunes), then upsampled through hardware within the Pico back to 24/96. But this hardware resampled 24/96 won't be the same as the original 24/96 right?

Yeah, sounds silly to go down and then back up, but few USB DAC do 24/96 native data. Most music is in 16/44.1 already, and the up-sampling process is supposed to smooth things out (I'm guessing like anti-aliasing in a graphics card), and the up-sampling allows re-clocking to reduce jitter.

I could loan you my Pico DAC for review if you promised to add to the thread.

Thank you very much for the kind offer. Well, it seems like I bought it yesterday during the special price. Lets see when it comes in

Will post review then.
