Looking for some headphones that would excel at heavier metal (As I Lay Dying/Parkway Drive etc) as well as hip hop. Bonus points for being good with rock/folk as well. I currently have the ZMF Eikon and love them, but I feel they are a little too laid back and lacking aggression. Preferably trying to stay under $1200.

If buying Closed....

Try the ONEMRE H1707

Try the Sennheiser HD1 > WIRED

Try the Audeze Sine

You could get all 3 for $1200, or find them previously owned and save even more.

Check out a used pair of Hifiman HE500's, excellent for rap (the genre I listen to the most) and has suitable power and pace for metal. Although I really like my TH600's I think the can be a little to harsh and fatiguing for metal over time. The other main benefit of the HE500's is that its signature is pretty different from your Eikons; a cheaper alternative would be the AKG K7XX.

one more vote for the HE500, i listen to a lot of metal lately, they are excellent, with leather pads the sound is lush and dramatic, just what the doctor ordered for metal music
