I recently bought a set of open-box headphones from an online retailer in the UK, but pretty much immediately wasn't impressed by them so I requested a return. I initially requested the return using their online request form but this was rejected because more than 14 days had passed since I ordered them. I pointed out that returns should be accepted within 14 days of receiving them, and I didn't receive them until 8 days after ordering. They admitted this, but then said that they wouldn't accept a return due to covid, headphones being an intimate item and me having opened the box. They explained that this was to protect their customers, although I had bought them as an open box item which had, presumably, been tried by somebody else.

I've bought a lot of headphones, but this is the first time I've tried returning a pair. I believe that I should be entitled to return them under Consumer Contracts Regulations, or am I?
