Targeting N7, I have my eyes on it!

I got somewhat of a Hiby collection but now days I'm way too much into Sony's house sound.

Main issue with Hiby is product variations, I've listened to 4 different RS8, each sounding slightly different, with dealers one sounding thr best.

In my opinion it points to something superior to the N7, better screen and RAM, and it has 50% more power in balanced, so I think there are some significant differences

Darwin-MPA, something either developed by or adapted by HiBy into a custom DAC architecture.

HiBy RS8 also has a 12k mAh battery and is rated for approximately 8hrs 4.4 / 12hrs 3.5

I can get 8-12 hours on my RS8 depending on local or streaming, volume, gain, primarily Class A amp and Turbo settings. It’s the only DAP I’ve owned where battery playback life isn’t an issue.

For reference, HiBy RS8 is approximately 584g (monocoque titanium chassis and pure copper battery case)

I’m not sure how I feel about the Alcantara at the back.
It can get dirty easily, might also be warmer than having a metal/plastic/glass back.

To put a case or not ? Leather case on top of Alcantara doesn’t sound very practical.

Question is: Is the Alcantara removable (without brute force) ?
Please don’t tell me I have to vacuum clean the DAP once in a while. This would be a new level of crazy.

This design choice has me scratching my head. Not only will it pick up dust, but also skin oils whenever you handle it.

I find it nice that there is a certain differentiation in the design, however I am sure that a very high percentage will use the device with the case on. I do not think there is a real problem with the degradation of the Alcantara part and if someone chooses by not using the cover, because some type of wear will be observed on the Alcantara as on other surfaces you would see scratches or other imperfections.

Cheap ugly clear case to show that Alcantara back.
It seems like Hiby did not learn from the mistakes of the Hiby R6 P2 case buttons either. This one looks exactly the same and I’m afraid will have the same issue of buttons being pressed accidentally when case is on.

At least the R6P2 has a stylish design and a premium leather case.
