I have the focal clear mg. I am trying to decide which amps to keep, after testing a few I can't hear any difference between them. But I'm leaning towards keeping a higher power amp in case I have new headphones down the road.

But I can't the numbers given on these devices to be able to compare the power. Right now I have the

  • Fiio k7
  • iF go blu
  • iFi gryphon
Can you teach me how to read and compare the power output? And whether it would be sufficient for each kind of headphone's power requirements?

Of these, the FiiO is the most powerful (2000mW BAL, 1220mW SE).
Then the Gryphon (1000mW BAL, 320mW SE).
Then the Go Blu (245mW BAL, 165mW SE).

These are at 32 ohms.

Thanks so much! Do you know how to compare these numbers? For example, does that mean the FiiO is double the power of gryphon? 1000 vs 2000? Also, what kind of headphones would require 2000?

2W should be enough to drive most headphones. There are online calculators where you plug in the headphone impedance, sensitivity, and it tells you how many mW are required to reach a certain dB level.

Im trying to use the last link, for an amp it asks for max output level A, do you know what that is?
