I own a pair stax sr-009. i've heard the 009 with only modded drivers such as 007tII,006t and SRM-3. but the sound never "blooms" rather it sounds "closed in" especially the midrange.
 
i KINDA don't want to give up the 009. so for u who have heard the 009 really blooms out, especially vocals, i would love to hear what setup that would be? cuz i've heard that the 009 sounds just as the chain. so i'm curios if i can find the synergi for my liking.

Put a Liquid Lightning in front of the SR009.  Granted, I heard the combination in meet conditions, but it was the most enveloping and resonant sound I've heard from the SR009.  Normally the SR009 sounds a little too clinical for my tastes, but I also prefer the tube sound over SS.  It's pretty remarkable that the LL is a SS amp.
 
There should be a lot of BHSE+SR009 impressions coming in shortly.
