Such SQ candy for HMS:

Its his own designed RF filter optimised SMPS as he said. No aftermarket stuff here.Is Rob listening to the LPS people? I guess he might. I'll be real interested in if the third unit is a power supply. If it is, Rob might have listened to the critics. If not, we're stuck with the $25 psu he normally uses.

I would assume something around 7-10k, closer to 10k. We are talking about the same ballpark as Dave.Anyone know the price? That additional power supply could make it alot more expensive than we thought
Seems to be nice album (briefly heard couple of pieces). ThanksJust posted more impressions about the Quartet scaler in its disccusion thread.

Large scale classical is hard to mike record but this album has particulary clear impressive dynamics on HMS:
That album was recorded in the 1960s on magnetic tape, and subsequently remastered using Deccas ADRM technology. Not a particularly good example of impressive dynamics imo.Just posted more impressions about the Quartet scaler in its disccusion thread.

Thousands! If you like the Decca approach to recording, which has been well documented, (see this book) then try any of their orchestral recordings of the last twenty or so (ie digital) years. You have a better example?
What is your chain Andrew ? Headphones, speakers?Thousands! If you like the Decca approach to recording, which has been well documented, (see this book) then try any of their orchestral recordings of the last twenty or so (ie digital) years.
But there are many great recordings with great dynamics on many labels. Stephen Hough’s Rachmaninov 2 blows away the cobwebs, or Beatrice Rana’s Tchaikovsky 1, to think of a couple I’ve enjoyed recently, but there are many many outstanding recordings.
