iFi audio GO pod + IEMs = brilliant wireless sound on the GO!
May 20, 2024 at 6:01 PM Post #2,086 of 2,137
I had about a fortnight of relative stability after a few months of various problems but now I get several dropouts per walk, or failure to connect before I even leave the house, which sometimes takes quite a few attempts before finally establishing connection.
Recently I've got to the stage where I take a spare pair of headphones with me when I go for a walk, which I have had to use on occasion when the Go Pods let me down.
I'm almost at the stage where they will finally beat me into submission.

Any chance the skipping has anything to do with inadvertent touches by your ear? Probably not as you’ve had yours for ages, but worth asking the question…. Do you wear a hat when this happens?
No, the Pods never touch my ears. Also, I was just walking. no jogging, no sweating. No hat. I never wear glasses, either.
The reason I will send them for testing is because I bought them in June 2023 and next moth their 1 year Warranty will expire.

I WISH iFi Audio will fine tune their TrueWireless Mirroring system. If LDAC 990/909 kbps will lose connection due to distance, one Pod will drop connection and never regain it, unless Playback will stop and restarted by closing the Music App. On lower bitrates and especially on best effort LDAC bitrate, it works: when back in Bluetooth connection distance, both Pods play again.

The above is valid with a flawless Pod. Mine is not, so I am sending it back for testing.

I personally am finding it more and more needed for all kinds of electronics to need a reset or restart,
It is not a matter of reset / restart.

It is a matter of testing the tech thoroughly.

Sorry to hear that, would there be any other devices in the house or around you at connection time that are perhaps interfering with the pairing process?

I know I have had occasions where I have connected them to my Android phone or Chromebook, and forgotten, then had issues connecting to my iPhone. (as an example)

Cheers!!

Was only making an inference it was not meant as a solution for the specific issue you are now posting about.

Most folks never even shut their phone down for a moment let alone overnight, I am simply saying giving these items a reset/rest on occasion is a good thing and shouldn't be overlooked or underestimated.

Cheers!!

Not as far as I am aware.

Like @Nick24JJ I purchased my Go-Pods in June last year. So I'll be sending mine in for testing too before the warranty expires.

I have a hunch that given the sealed plastic/polymer enclosure containing a Li-Ion battery, the proximity of the circuitry, and the (relatively) high power output, that there are heat issues going on.

I have had no issues (other than inadvertently activating the touch controls), but I only use mine a few times a month. Therefore, I have put mine through fewer hours of usage and fewer charging cycles.

Could be something in that. Myself and others started reporting our issues after several months of relatively pain free use.

I am more inclined to believe that there is something going on with Samsung phones or their Bluetooth settings. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems that almost everyone posting here have recent S-series phones and started having issues almost simultaneously.

Might be some unmentioned update or OneUi 6.1 issue no one knows about.

As for overheating, at least in my case the issue was on a brand new pair and sometimes instantly after switching them on. No way they could heat up so much that smth goes that wrong unless there is serious design flaw.

Hopefully, we will be able to see some light on this after their units are gone over.

I myself have an iPhone, and also a "lowly" BLU G91 for Android and have not had these particular issues but I am also not out walking or in an area that may have some more than usual Bluetooth traffic, so there can be a few things at play here.

Cheers!!

I have a Samsung S24 so if your theory was correct that's not good. I don't have another phone but I do have an iPad and the Go-Pods connected to that flawlessly. I disconnected 3 times and reconnected just in case it was a fluke but it reconnected every time. Funnily enough I then managed to connect to my S24 at the first attempt after disconnecting from the iPad, and for connection to happen at first attempt on the S24 is a pretty rare occurrence.

I get your theory about bluetooth traffic outside Bubba, but I've had quite a few sets of big brand bluetooth headphones over the years (I no longer have them) which performed perfectly on the same couple of routes that I use every day. As I said in a recent post I now take a spare (cheap) set of bluetooth headphones in case the Go-pods give me too many problems and they also work perfectly.

Maybe I worded that inartfully, lol

I only meant more that "I" am not really in those types of situations, my closest experience to that would have been on a flight recently and I was using my iPhone and had no issues, and even that may be a result of the Codec not being LDAC from iPhone

I will endeavor this week to use My Android cheapy this week and see if I can get any of these issues.

Could it be a matter of using LDAC? That is a bit outside my knowledge.

Cheers!!

Yeah I did wonder about LDAC which is what I use. When I go out tomorrow I'll try another codec.
Anyway I'm sending mine in to be tested so will see what they find.-

That would be a good test as well, if there are no dropouts or issues it would be a good thing to tell them, if it turns out that way I will pass it along as well.

Thanks for giving it a go!

Cheers!!
