Surprisingly, my iFi Audio outfit clearly out-performed the Aquila II, answering a nagging question about whether my rig could compete with a mid-tier table top DAC/AMP. Yep! The overall presentation of the Aquila II was clean, sharp, and distict but it didn't get my juices flowing. The sound stage was not as deep and the sound was not as lush or thick as my iDSD BL.

I started this hobby out with the iDSD BL so I was perhaps insecure not knowing what other equipment sounded like. The iGalvanic and the iPurifier3 failed to improve the Aquila II like it did with the BL. I don't know why?

With the BL, if I wanted a sharper sound such as the Aquila II, I just hit the 3D switch and the treble becomes slightly more elevated and sound stage becomes very nice with the AQ Night Owl Headphones. The HiFiMan Edition XX through the Aquila's balanced output sound staging is negligiblely wider but not as deep and thick sounding as the BL.

Now, I'm thinking that the iDSD Signature must be some fantastic device I need to try.

Thanks, this post made my day :)

You might investingate our recently released iDSD Diablo. It's priceir than micro iDSD Signature, but sounds a fair bit differently and, accordingly to feedback we got thus far, all in all better.
