iFi audio iDSD Signature - The saga continues!
Sep 1, 2022 at 10:59 AM Post #1,876 of 2,172
Been spending the past hour reading previous threads.

So, is the consensus that the IFI Signature can fully power a Hifiman He1000v2?
On the website, it says it's 1900mW into 32ohms.

I am currently using a Singxer Sa1 (6400 mW at 32ohms) and about the same price as the IFI Signature (would love to see another $450 sale).
Would the IFI Signature be a sidegrade or an upgrade in terms of sound performance?

Thanks for your input.
Not sure if this helps but it works like a dream with my Arya V2

I just received the Arya Stealth today and I have them paired with the IFI IDSD Signature Dac/Amp, I'm running them in turbo mode, they do sound sound very clear and detailed with great imaging, with a very nice deep lower end, and with songs that I want to and a little more bass, the X-Bass button gives it just the right bump. Love It!!

The Signature has been my main amp for a while now, and I finally got a different amp to compare to. All this time I thought my hearing in my left ear was slightly off because the left channel always sounded quieter, but on this other new amp it sounds balanced. I'm even using the Signature as the DAC for it. I'm assuming something with the amp portion of it is off? I'm listening at 12' o clock which should be far away from the pot imbalance zone.

Would this be something covered by iFi?

I use mine on my work desk daily. Is it ok to leave constantly plugged in to power?

It should be 5.3.

You know, we don't sell directly, so... :)

Yes, our GTO filter was designed to be constantly engaged for PCM playback, it overrides any other filter (including filter knob positions) and the only way to turn it off is to install a different firmware.

That's correct, the GTO is auto-engaged upon installing our 5.3c firmware and it replaces every other filter.

Thanks for the informative answer

I bought my Signature new in Oct. 2022, so it should have the 5.3c SW GTO filtering installed most probably, but what is the easiest way to check this? Can i PM you the Serial number or can i check this if i connect the Signature to a Mac or only Win PC ?

The LED is green on PCM, but turn white/yello at 24/192 khz, ist does not seem to be sw 5.3c GTO filter then?

PS
I found it a little to hard in the top end, so i want it a little less brittle, more like the older micro dsd Black Label, if someone can recommend what filter to use then?
There's some good chatter earlier in this thread regarding the sound difference between the firmware options. I know what you're talking about since I did have the BL before the signature. You should go back and try one of the earlier filters.

This was what another member said about the different filters, give 5.2 a go if you're finding 5.3 too brittle.
From my listening, 5.2 (no MQA, PCM 768 kHz/DSD512) is the most subtle, smoothest. Latest firmware (PS4, PCM768kHz support) is clearer but a bit metallic. And fw 5.3 (MQA, PCM384 kHz/DSD256) is the most balanced.

Quick question on the iFi iDSD Sig: Is there a way to kludge an 1/8"/3.5mm analog to USB adaptor (like those on Amazon) to create a line level analog input for the iFi?

Not certain, but I have one and if it'll work I have to cancel a return pronto...TIA...

I have also a iDSD micro Diablo in for comparison vs the iDSD micro signature.

what is your thoughts of the Signature with 7.4c GTO filter installed vs the Diablo SQ wise, if we dont look at the power spec, just the sound at the same volume level. Is the Diablo superior in all areas vs the Micro Signature? ( Used with planar headphones)

2. Is it possible to install the GTO filter on the Diablo also?

This probably won't effect a lot of you Guys that are using the idsd micro signature but it could help some.
I have the problem with two of my iems not working on both channels when the iem cable is pushed right in to the 4.4 jack. The other iems are fine with no problems.
The iems i have a problem with are the dunu zen pro & the oriolus isabellae when plugged in but to remedy this i just pull the cable out a fraction & everything seems fine.
Anyway it doesn't end there.
The isabellae is new to my stable & after reading a lot of reviews about how clear & remarkable the vocals were supposed to be i was disappointed so I started tip rolling & after going through heaps of different tips i got a slight improvement but not what I expected. The vocals sounded a bit grainy, I started to think the oriolus isabellae obviously wasn't that good compared to my others (ie600, Sony m9, blessing 2 & dunu zen pro)
So I decided last resort before giving up on the isabellae to make a very thin plastic washer up which I slid over the 4.4 jack & pushed the jack all the way in & boom the isabellae came alive with brilliant clear sound. So if anyone else has this problem try the very thin plastic washer trick it just may clean that sound up.
I want to point out also that I don't blame the signature for this problem I tend to think its a cable thing even though when plugged directly into my astell&kern sp1000m I don't have the channel problem.

i recently sold my chord mojo and i have in target the idsd signature because mostly of the power it has. Two questions i have can i connect my tv using optical cable ? Also, is it possible to connect it permanetally using it as a dac to my amp has a line level ?

Yes, you can connect it via Optical Input.

You can use it permanently as a DAC to your Amp (via RCA) but you need to manage it's battery charge cycle. There is no way to toggle internal battery and constant charging will effect battery life.
