iFi audio ZEN Stream - Streaming elevated to a higher plane

Sandro Sena,

Slight detour here.

I am looking at connecting my ZS with a Singxer and then a Denafrips Pontus or Venus. Are you happy with how the ZS interfaces with the Singxer and Denafrips? Obviously how is the sound?

Thanks for any input!

Best,

S
He will obviously be better suited to answer but I will give you some similar equipment thoughts.

I at one point before the NEO Stream came out had my Zen into a Singxer SU-2 (I still have it) and an Ares II also had the iFi iSilencer after that in the chain.

Memory is I had to use a hardware volume mixer setting for proper output level (I think it was PCM-1 ) from the Stream-iFi app, and I very much enjoyed the sound of it, but when I got the NEO there was something about the sound using the Optibox that simply struck me in such a good way, that I ended up selling my Denafrips after months of comparison between the two. And yes I dearly loved my Denafrips, lol

Hope that helps in some small way!

Cheers!!

Hello and thanks for this.

I did the optical conversion upstream before the ZS compliments of Sonore.

Frankly looking for the downstream interface really with the Singxer which is being discounted currently (which suggests impending replacement so might get an outgoing discount.)

On the other issue/item (Return of ZS) for “Spa-refresh and update” I believe your assistance was frankly invaluable.

All assistance GREATLY appreciated as always, Sir!

I just bought a used ZenStream
They didn't send it with an antenna. Might as well buy an upgraded antenna compared to the stock one if one is available can you guys recommend anything?
You can always contact our support to see if any are available,

https://support.ifi-audio.com/

If not, any wifi antenna should work just fine, check with our distributors as well.

Cheers!!

Zen Stream / qobuz / Android phone. Not ROON
What is the best way to stream bit perfect and high-res if possible ? BubbleuPnP ?
Install serviio (free software) on a desktop/laptop, and share your music files through DLNA. In the ifi phone app you can open DLNA shares. And play along. Or use tidal. I don’t know how to use qobuz. I use qobuz myself, but in my other streamer.

I read mconnect phone is quite okay too

My use case was always Roon, until we get Qobuz Connect there are a few options besides that.

MConnect Lite is a free app with ads, but the full version has no ads, I always found that worked best for me.

Cheers!!

So MConnect Lite is your app of choice. In the app there is a "Browser" button on the bottom where Qobuz option is located. Adding username\pass and will load the account. Be sure that the Zen stream is set to "all" at the back of the unit itself(look it into the manual) and turn ON+connect to internet. Then on the bottom of mConnect there is "Play to" button where you will see "Upnp devices" ->"iFi". After choosing you can play from the "Browser" section your Qobuz music to Zen.
Also if you can....use LAN cable to connect Zen Stream. It is more stable and sounds better.

Thanks !
It will be really difficult and expensive to get Ethernet to it so I hope WiFi works ok.
Were there different revisions of this device? Mine is apparently an older one because it comes with the iFi branded power supply. I'm glad I got the good supply but I'm wondering it's mine and older one or are they all the same?

The included standard psu is always just a simple one, replacing it for a ‘decent’ lps is always advicable.

Wifi works fine without hickups. I have used both. It all depends though (how good are your wifi accespoints at home).

Hope WiFi work out for you. Be sure to get good signal. But apperantly it's not all about if it works or not. As I've mentioned it sounds better on LAN at my system (router is at 50cm).

About the PSU....the first 1000 units where with an iPower included in the box, which is about 90 euro stand alone. The rest after 1000 have a small lower quality one. So if you got iPower that's good news!
