Pretty much says it in the title. After hours of researching basically it says I need an amp and a DAC for the Beyer Dynamic DT 990s Pro 250. I'm going to be playing from my desktop and the FiiO comes bundled with the DT 990s for 200.   I know the classic setups of the Magni and Modi or the E09k with the E17k, sadly I'm not sure if it's needed to buy a system that's worth  more than the actual headphones if the E11 can deliver if it's only 250 ohms.

Thank you all in advance for the help :)

Why not E07k with E09k combo? That saves you about 50 bucks.

E07K cant drive 990 pro fully and qogir is too much
E12 has 130% power of whats needed

I tried already qogir and didnt.really.liked it
Also E17 wasnt the best thing i had ever listened

If he asks only for an amp so that should be E12 as the one of the best performance for price
E12 is imho the only portable amp worth buying under 300 USD

You realize that the E09k's amp is more powerful than the E12 right? Regardless or not it is connected to the E07k or E17 these only act as DAC while the E09k does the actual amping. Since the OP was saying desktop set-up there is no difference between the E07k and E17k when docked to the E09k.

I would recommend a E07k + E09k (combo) or E17 + E09k (combo) since you have the flexibility of a DAC as well as an AMP for portable use and also a stronger AMP than the E12 for desktop use. The E12 is only an AMP.
