I should probably just go to sleep, but I've got the itch to blow around ~$75 on a pair of IEMs.  I have the following IEMs already

Sony MDR-7506's while at work.
 
Prerequisites
1. Must have a mic
2. Must have great mids and highs, w/o giving up the bottom.

I will highly recommend to try more balanced RE0, RE_ZERO, HF3, UE 700.

The UE700 isn't bad a choice at all.  I've been trying it out over the past couple of days.  But given his current line-up, I'm not sure he would consider the low end to be weighty enough IMO.

Agree with MA450i, but beware of microphonics. Ok if worn over ear apparently.

Yup, I agree.  For me, I have to wear them over ear AND use the cable cinch to adequately control the microphonics... but worth the uncool factor IMO.
