Today I went to Fujiya avic store to pick my HFI780 up.
At the store, I found Kenwood KH-K1000 demo cans and I tried a short audition with the demo.

My first impression was this is HUGE. But it fits good and feel comfortable.

As for SQ, simply put I'd say this is for Jazz and Classical type cans.
Not heavy nor overly energetic overall, decent and well resolved. Soundstage is not so wide I think, but this is not muddy and I felt good openness.
Bass is not humped nor bloated. Seems like mid oriented but I can not exactly say so at the brief audition.
Not bad at all and well worth to try for acoustic music fans.

I am also interested in the D2000/D5000 comparison with it.
Ah, have you listened the HFI-780, don't you?. How it compared vs that?
Thanks

I listened to the Kenwood, and I agree completely with Sasaki's findings. The sound is a lot like the AKG K271, with more bass.
