Im new to this and looking for a bit of help..

I have recently bought a pair of AKG k550 headphones and i am looking to get the best performance out of them.

I am currently using my laptop and ipod to play music but am considering buying a Fiio E17 or a CD player for around €200 to improve my listening experience. The CD player Im looking at is the Yamaha CD S300 or others in that category.

What option would be best for me?

Cheers

I have my laptop running the Audioquest Dragonfly.  It sounds amazing with my Sennheiser HD 25-II's.  It runs around 250 USD but if you look hard enough there have been people here getting it for as cheap as 160$ open box. I personally would just nab it as it will let you be more portable with your collection.

with the new schitt amp and dac for $99 each, a fantastic budget system is in your grasp.  since you already have cans, a quick and dirty suggestion would be..

Laptop with Audirvana, schitt amp and dac, headphones.

it does remove the cd player though.  depends on how many cd's you have.  but I would consider burning your cd's to the computer losslessly.

just one suggestion.  many paths to the same place.
