The community has spoken and we’ve responded. The Element by JDS Labs can now be customized with an automatic DAC line output, enabling you to toggle between active speakers and headphones with the press of a button.

Have you addressed the wobbly volume knob? I believe that was a great turnoff for such a gloriously designed device for many buyers in a local shop where the Element was being shown off.

On your website, it says:

The Element's RCA jacks are customizeable:

Analog Input allows you to connect any external audio player to the headphone amplifier. Element's DAC is bypassed.

Automatic DAC Line-Output allows you toggle between headphones and powered speakers at the push of a button.

So with the second option, automatic DAC line-output, I would be able to connect an electrostatic headphone amp while using The Element as a DAC, right? Just wanted to make sure.

I'm sure it's the unit, I have used a number of different Elements, including my own, and the knob is solid, girthy, and awesome.  I really love the Element, it's great both in sound and design, and it drives Planars with ease.

I think it was the unit, faulty indeed. And yeah, it has gobs and gobs of power to drive pretty much anything outside of an HE-6 :D
