Welcome to Leben CS600 appreciation/information/discussion thread. I have created this thread since there is no specific thread for Leben CS600. CS600 is normally used primary as speakers amplifier and secondary as headphone amp.

6CS7 Tubes

Two left tubes are for Left channel and two Right tubes are for right channel.

Tube 1 (from left) is first stage for left channel.
Tube 2 (from left) is second stage for left channel.
Tube 3 (from left) is first stage for right channel.
Tube 4 (from left) is second stage for right channel.

If you could not get a quad matched pair of 6CS7 tubes, you can also get two matched pairs.

If you get two matched pairs, you can use them as under:
A-matched pair for 1 and 3 (from left)
B-matched pair for 2 and 4 (from left)

This will make a well balance between two channels.

These information are acquired from Leben.

Im using 6N3C-E (CCCP) s in my CS600 most of the time, it sounds most balanced among the lot of tubes I have for it, transparent, detail and sweet, though comparatively it is has less depth and spaciousness of the KT120. I have to admit that KT120 is addictive with the CS600. KT120 is slight heftier, while the EL34 is smoother and warmer.
Unless one is trying to drive efficient headphones, use the speaker terminals!

I have been using KT120 for months now. In my system, the KT120 is intoxicating with sweet mid and high range and big huge sound (soundstage) like it is coming out from the wall. It has more control/grip compared to KT90. After 1 or 2 hours of warm up, it sounded like a perfect system. Took me a while to get it right - speakers placement, room setup, sitting position (sweet spot), tubes in Amp and DAC, cables and etc. It is so easy to emerge into the music. My listening session always ended with satisfaction and eargasm.

Edit: I used 14 pieces (24x24x2) ATS Acoustics Foam Panels in my small 10.5x11x8 feet listening room.

Interesting about the foam panels weitn, might try it out. That's quite a lot of padding going around your room I assume your paddy room is nice and cozy

. My listening + TV room is 15f x 20f, thinking does need quite some treatment.
And yeah! KT120 is very good! concerning details and spaciousness it is a notch above everything I have, just the lid...
Was going to ask what speakers you use but took a look at your sig and its harbeth all the way...

I used the foam panels to reduce echo and standing waves in my listening room. I have a hardwood floor and my listening room is almost empty. That is why I use 14 foam panels. More foam panels are required compared to wool or fiberglass panels. I have no plan to get a carpet anytime soon. In the future, when I moved my system to bigger room, I’ll go with a better and better looking panels like the Acoustics Panel (with Roxul AFB mineral wool). I would need less panels but it cost several times more. I must say these acoustics panels are a must for serious listening room. Definitely worth the costs.

ATS Acoustics website has free room acoustics analysis which helps in determining how many panels are needed.

Some information regarding foam panel vs fiberglass panels.

In the end, which type of panels and how many panels depends on room dimensions, existing furniture, the hifi system and personal preferences (lively or less lively or etc).

Hello,

I’ve read some very positive comments about the use of KT120 in Leben CS600 and some guys got the confirmation from Leben that this poses no problems. I asked the same question to Mr Yoshi Hontani and he answers “As CS600 is not designed to use KT120/KT150, we are unable to guarantee negative effects after many years use. We also feel the sound of KT120 in CS600 is not Leben-like sound…” I already bought a matched quad of KT120 but now I hesitate to use them of course…A bit anxious to ruin my amp...

Can try some SED Winged C 6L6GC or 6n3cE. KT90 gets also nice reviews...For the moment my Leben is equipped with TungSol 6L6GC STR, not bad but are missing some dynamics and detail. My speakers are Graham LS5/9, very nice combo.

Thanks for your comments and wise advise.

Kind regards,
Marc

Is the headphone section weak? Only for high effiency headphones?

Does cs600 use own headphone amp or is it the same amp as the speaker output? If you change tube, will the change apply to headphone out too? So will it deliver the same sound quality level through head just like the speaker out or is it different with degrade sound quality?

Iam really interested in this cs600 as both speaker and hradphone amp.
