I don't have any issues with noise or hum but I'm really interested if better cables and power strip make any difference. I really am in need of a good power strip with surge protection but have no idea if I need a power filter as well. Found one product that has it all:
Copper-line Alpha Power
Cable and strip. Cable is pretty inexpensive compared to some other quality cable and hifi-choice gave it 5 stars.

The other cable/strip combo I was looking at is this: Supra LoRad 2.5 EU Power Cable: 1.5 Metre - Mains/Power Products - Divine Audio + G&W TW-03E power filter plant (EU Special Edition)

Now I have no idea about this stuff but I don't want to add noise to my equipment. I have slight issues with monitor refresh rate and projector errors when sourcing video from my PC but it works fine from PS3. Maybe a good power strip could help that.

Any help or other recommendations you could give me I will be very grateful for.

Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter,

I would HIGHLY suggest considering Alan Maher's power control devices. I recently installed a $145 Reference II filter parallel to my audio circuit and I cannot believe the difference it has made. This is easily the best money I have spent and would consider the effects to be equivalent to upgrading every component in my system. I am using Beyer DT990 600ohm phones through a DV332 amp and Music Hall Maverick CDP. My system sounded good with flashes of brilliance with well recorded cds. I was trying to tweak my system to get a little more punch in my bass when I contacted Alan Maher. He suggested the Ref II which I plugged into an outlet on the circuit just above my audio circuit.

My system now sounds "real". My soundstage is huge in every dimension. Instruments are separated in space and are correct in timbre. My bass is deep and extremely well controlled with bass tones I never heard in my system. I used to write off distortion in loud passages to recording compression. Those loud passages are now disassembled such that voices and instruments are now separated with no distortion.

I am a happy camper and am going to the well again to see if a Ref 3 will pay additional dividends. Sign up for Alan's Facebook page and he is offering great deals this week.

I am not associated in any way with Alan. I am just incredibly happy with what his Ref2 has done for my system and hope others find similar success.

Thanks for the info setamp but there's a problem. I used to have 4 power outlets; 2 on each side of the room. To make a long story short - electricians messed up two outlets when they were working on a room next to mine (the two working outlets are not associated/not wired with the non-working ones). So I only have 2 power outlets and I cannot afford a standalone conditioner without a power hub - I need all in one power strip, well two of them actually. Also I don't have Facebook :p

The Ref II actually plugs into any outlet that is NOT on the same circuit that your system so you don't have to use one of your valuable outlets (I understand you need more outlets, though). Maher sells an outlet strip that I have no experience with but would consider just because of my experience with the Ref II.

I didn't have facebook either. I had to open an account to get the discount :>)

Guys I am really not an expert on power cables and
By no means a believer but curious about if they make any sort of difference in my set up " now some people might say why would I spend this sort of money on braided silver core cables when you do not believe that they will make an audible difference? Silver core rhodium plated plug braided cable , build is amazing quality is fantastic , the closest I've seen similar cables are from audioquest priced at £5000
Now how much did I pay
I paid £29 for this cable if you can believe it at this build quality , but you may ask did it make a difference
Bloody he'll who needs a blind test I'm not joking the soundstage opened up more clarity on the top end with more sparkle ,
tighter base response but as I was told with silver core cables they need burning in which is another thing I do not believe in especially with cables .
Only time will tell if anyone is interested you have nothing to loose for £30 il give you guys the link I have purchased 3 and replaced all my audioquest cables .

Cheers guys .
