Hi all, so my old ant trusty AKG's are dead and I need a new set of open headphones.
I will use it for editing videos, gaming, and music (rock, jazz, blues, metal).

I was looking at the beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO, Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X, HIFIMAN HE-400I and the HIFIMAN HE400SE as candidates for my new headset. what do you think?

HE400 is a good option sound-wise (fairly balanced) but may be hard to drive for some sources. Bigger issue there is I personally don't find them very comfortable for long sessions.

I don't recommend Beyerdynamic period unless you can demo first or wherever you buy from has a lenient return policy; the Beyer peak is real, and (at least for me and many others) painful.

Under $150 my go-to recommendation is the Philips XR2HR. Sometimes on sale for as little as $100. Very comfortable, easy to drive. Far from perfect but solid for their price point.
