Im going to keep this short as I can, (first time poster, long time lurker, you guys helped me in the purchase for a good budget headphone, the HD598)

I game alot - FPS mainly, however play the occasional indie game, and RPG. 

I listen to alot of oldschool rap, RnB, 80's funk, basically anything but HATE CLASSICAL!!!! 

 I love the HD598, however the bass is lacking, BUT LOVE the clarity and soundstage. 

I have a asus xonar phoebus sound card, to power my HD598, and it can power 600ohms headphones NO PROBLEM. 

Only want to upgrade if the PRICE is worth it from the HD598. Dont want to spend too much however, around 600 - 800 dollars. (im from the UK so that would be around 500GBP limit, considering thats how much the HD700 cost) 

So to sum it up need headphones like my HD598, with bigger soundstage, and abit more bass, love the clarity when it comes to the vocals, feels like im there,

IS it really that much of an upgrade from the HD598? because to be honest the Beyerdynamic DT990 are only a tad cheaper then the HD650, which compared to the 598, have less of a soundstage but more accurate sound, and a tad more bass.

The Dt990 has more bass then the HD598.

However I still LOVE THE soundstage of the HD598, and the clarity, (vocals when it comes to music, and footsteps and gun sounds during gaming) will the 990 offer me similar performance? I dont want heart pounding bass, that drowns out the subtle sounds, just a bit more bass then the HD 598. 

Here is what I would like in a headphone, when it comes to sound, I want everything LIKE the HD598, Just a tad more bass, without sacrificing any audio quality.

even if not helpful, i want to point out that you may have to compromise comfort, as that is also an area where the sennheiser shine.

Man I thought the Steelseres siberia V2 headdsets were comfortable, BOY was I in for a shock once I got the HD598, I cant even go back to the V2 headset lol. I dont mind sacrificing comfort just as long as they are good.

I cannot believe how good the value is for the HD598's, If I got these for twice its asking price, I would not be dissapointed with the results. Only thing thats setting these pair of cans is that the bass is lacking when it comes fo blasting some dr dre 50 cent, e.t.c
