I second the darth beyer v4s. You can plug the holes making them a little less bassy.

Absolutely and I did try to suggest that when I had the GS-1000 but she didn't buy it. As an aside I estimate the leakage to be about 50% of what the GS-1000 leaked so we are talking major leakage.

One of the best closed headphones I heard so far, with good isolation, are the Kenwood KH-K1000.

I have been emailing with Larry from headphile and he has come up with an "interesting" proposition that I dont quite know what to make off. He is suggesting that he build a closed phone based on the headband and driverset from a K340 !!!

I liked the sound of the kt88 modded K340 I had years ago but wonder what will happen to the sound in a closed configuration.

nc8000, did you try Ultrason ALO780? The leakage of sound is very minimal. When i burn in it, i hang it across a down pillow. I can't hear almost anything when i sleep beside it. As report, it is a very good closed type headphone and within your budget. Cheers!

No I have never heard any Ultrasone phone.

Maybe one of these... (although a bit out of your price range, may be worth it!)

That is actually the way I have gone. Managed to do a trade deal with the LA2000 plus cash for a set of Edition8. Hope they will be both amazing sounding and leak free (no way to audition them as I don't think there is a single pair of these in Denmark yet).
