The DX1000 is a great headphone. health to enjoy them (they sound even better balanced too if you ever go that far)

I've owned it all (almost) and moved on to better speakers. But...it's nice to have a good set of headphones when circumstances dictate (e.g. sleeping girlfriend 12 feet away). The HD650 have thus far held the crown of sound quality vs. "too much $ for its limited usage". However, I enjoyed my past DX1000 quite a bit -- and your post has me digging up the fond memories -- perhaps it might now justify the extra expense vs. the HD650. A bit of a bass-head's delight, but a lovely headphone nonetheless. Enjoy the pretty set you've got there!
