This is from a French website that specializes in
exclusive DX-1000 / DX-700 modifications.

Link here

Cups are exhanged from pine (stock) to
oak, unit is recabled with an in-house
cryo treated cable. Our modding man
(Pierre) claims that this brings the
DX-700 in-line with it's bigger
brother, the DX-1000.

Especially since you can just get the DX1000 for less...

Good looking though (but 420 euro for the cable alone? *snort*)

Heya,

The wood is beautiful. But, $1170 EU for the entire compilation. Haha.

Very best,

yeah, but you can get them without the fancy cable for 750 EU.

JVC-DX700 is another ignored jewel though ~ especially for the basshead with discerning taste,

Would love to score another listen sometime, but the time I heard them (just the once, from an
international student acquaintance) - they were solid thumping cans.

 A D5000 vs DX700 review would be a cracker.

in fact, the guy said on his blog that the dx700s are basically the same headphones as the dx1000s.. with BETTER drivers and a better headband

They look like Sony R10s.

Head band and gimbals looks disappointing though.

I much prefer the dx700 look. the dx1000 looks cheap in comparison, IMHO.
