I hope this is the right forum for this question. I am interested to know the benefit of multi driver IEM's,my first logic assumption is more seperation..helps with dynamics.  But that's all I can think about at this moment.
I don't want to get too technical, just the basic idea.
It is known that the Etymotic ER4's are considered on of the most accurate IEM's out there ,and they only have a single driver and relatively very cheap.  Can the ER4 compete with all those High end IEM'S with 1000$ price tag ?
I currently don't own the ER4 but I have the HF5 (even more mid-fi) and they are pretty accurate sounding, And the ER4 should be even more.   If accuracy is the audiophile "goal" (at least from the High end perspective) than what is the point of having a 4 or 8 drivers if the sound is not accurate along the spectrum??   what ARE the benefits of multi drivers that justify the high price?
