I'm currently using my MacBookPro as my source an would like to pickup a DAC and an AMP to go with it. I'm purchasing a DT880 as well, an those will be the primary cans.
I'm looking to spend $700 for both if thats possible, less is even better

Anyone have any recommendations?

Would a Predator be a good setup?

You may want to look into the Apogee Duet which many Mac users here are happy with - rather pricey though at ~500USD.

The Audio-GD Compass has been stirring some commotion here as a good DAC/Amp combo at about 300USD shipped. If you really want to keep it under $700 this might just be your best bet.

I have been looking at entry level usb DACs for a while now and heres a list of dedicated DACs that you may want to check out as well:

Valab NOS Dac (~$200 shipped)
Keces DA-151MKII (~300 shipped) -link is to a review of the older version
Cambridge DacMagic (~400USD)

Good luck!
