I have a budget of $200. Cant be extended much higher than $220. I listen to ONLY rock music. I want the vocals to really pop out, like the singers mouth is 12 inches from my ear. Open/closed does not matter, nor does circumaural/supraural. Also, I have a FiiO E7 amp/dac.

V-Moda M80 would be great for you.  They have an up-front sound presentation, fit very comfortable, are portable, are built super well, and sound awesome.  If you end up not liking the style then perhaps the Grado SR-80i would fit your needs.  They are awesome for rock and heavy metal with vocals remaining in the foreground.  They are pretty comfortable, built really well, and sound amazing with rock.  The M80 is a better can overall, but the Grado SR-80i will be a great place to start if you so choose.  The SR-80i runs $99 or less while the M80 is $199.  Neither requires an amp and both improve with amplification giving you a little room to improve.

If the M80 is a bit too expensive ( say around $229 ) the V80 is the same headphone, but has a different look.

How about the sennheiser HD25 1 II. Should I wait for the amperior? It looks sweet, but I dont know if it will be in the same price range as the HD25 1 II. I like how the M80 has a built in mic, and the build quality too. Also I can get some grado sr325 in a trade with my Shure SRH940. Would that be the best option?

I'm going to vote for the V-Moda CF M80 and Grado SR-80i too, both are great sets of rock cans. Also, there are lots of SR-80i mods, if you want to get into that sort of thing. If you can, test them both out and see what you think. Both are available for <$200 on Amazon.

Rock + voice = Grado. try sr225 or sr325is if you can imo.

Im trading the SRH 940 for a Grado SR80i plus $100. Do you think it will sound better than the SRH940 for rock? lol Probably not but that $100 will definitely help me get a new laptop :) and I am sure they will sound great. I have been very interested in seeing what the Grado sound is like.

Hmmm lol. Someone else said a direct trade between the 2, but hasnt replied... Depending on the condition the grado is in, I can probably make $60. In total I will have $160, I paid $214. I hope I like the grado, but I guess I may not. In my opinion the srh940 was very similar to my ety HF5, just more detail, which is why I am selling it.

A Grado is always particular (fast, aggressive, fun, bright...) but if you really like ROCK, you ll be very pleased.

I really do like rock. Someone else is willing to trade senn hd25 1 II. Really interested in those. BCasey loves metal and claims that he reached audio nirvana with the hd25. I even pm'd him. He has noth the 940 and the hd25. He said that for metal the hd25 is much better.
