Hello,

I am looking for a pair of Open-Back Headphones with good soundstage.

Budget: $700-1000

Sound: Warm Sound. Sound signature similar to that of the Sennheiser Momentum Over-Ear.

Comfort: Very Important. I am sensitive to discomfort.

Music Preference: I listen to a wide variety of music: Pop, Classical, EDM, Blues, Soft Rock etc.

Could you please suggest headphones based on my requirements?

Thank you for your help!!

+1 for hd 600, 650, and open Sennheisers in general.

HD 600 / 650 / 700

Thank you everyone.

HD650 was my first option until I realized that it has a bit of a mid-bass hump and veiled sound**. What has been your experience?

HD600 is a little flat/neutral** for my taste and I have read that HD700 can be bright** sometime which I want to avoid.

And also, as my budget is a little flexible, I was thinking, may be I have room for a Planar Magnetic. But I hear those are a bit on heavy. Any thoughts?

**I don't have the option of trying out headphones. Just going by what I read on Head-Fi and other sources on the internet.

Absolutely.. I thought, may be once I narrow down on my Headphone choices I could start looking at DAC and Amp options..

The HD 650 seems like the headphone for you.  Also if you've never heard the HD 600 then you can't be sure it's too flat or neutral for your tastes, although the HD 650 is probably the safer choice.  Another option is the Audeze EL-8 open back but this will eat up more of your budget and I don't know if that budget includes amp and DAC.

Looks like HD650 is the one after all. Would you know a good DAC and Amp to pair this up with? Preferably portable ones.

I already own a Fiio X3ii, so for now, may be I will just stick with the X3 and get a portable amp that is powerful enough to drive the headphones..

I'm sure the FiiO X3ii is a good DAC, so perhaps spend the remaining money on a good portable amp.  I'm out of the loop with regard to portable amps myself, although you can always ask in the HD 650 thread:

Final Audio Pandora Hope/Sonorous VI

AudioQuest Nighthawk

Fostex TH-X00 (Semi-Open)

Shure SRH1840

Hifiman HE-560

Do some research on these, I'm sure you'll find that suits your liking. Don't just go with the Sennheiser suggestions.

HE-560 is on the bright side of neutral so I would not pick that one.

Cool.. Thank you.. One less HP to look into.. Looks like companies typically lean towards a more neutral/flat sound when it comes to their top tier headphones..
