At this stage, most high-end IEMs are more functional jewelry pieces than engineering masterpieces attempting to pursue the best sound possible from such limited workspace. Most sporting in one way or another a similar combination of BA/DD, or all BA placed in a fancy case with a crossover. And yet, it still makes more sense than paying $4k to Tiffany for a thin platinum chain. I guess IEMs have taken notes from the High-End Speaker Industry, where form has become more important than function.

That's why I support companies like sony, who really justify paying 2000€ for an IEM which has real R&D.

Agreed, but don’t forget that JH Audio really did pave the way on anything BA IEMs. Others are just pocketing from their original R&D. Now it is just a matter of applying a different tuning here and there.

I am replacing my universal Angie II with a custom Angie. Just ordered. It will be along side my custom Lola. It is nice have IEM impressions already on file with JH Audio, 64 Audio and Empire Ears.
