Trent's back with a new release this time under NIN.  After his soundtrack stint the past few years it's great to hear a new album from him, this one has more old school flavor IMO. The dynamic range is a bit compressed (notice this trend with a lot of his work) but it doesn't sound too bad on headphones.  I like it a lot so far, and for me up there with PHM and Downward Spiral.

The album has leaked but won't be officially released for a week or so.

Awesome! I'm excited, apparently you can stream the whole album in itunes.... too bad I don't have itunes and I won't install it.  Probably better off just waiting for the release instead.

Thanks for alerting me about this I had no idea anything new was coming out.

Whohoh.  This is pretty awesome, good friend shared with me, audiophile mastered version: http://www.factmag.com/2013/08/28/nine-inch-nails-hesitation-marks-to-be-available-in-standard-and-audiophile-mastered-versions/

This is significant. I hope.

Interesting news.

I'll be getting all 3 masters since I preordered the LP from their site. Looking forward to comparing them all.

extremely curious as to your results.

i don't understand why there would be an "audiophile" master and any other one...why not just do the one master and release in different formats?   we'll see if the master is indeed different, or just the format...

but i digress, i like what i've heard so far and IMO NIN hasn't put out anything bad ever, just different.

I'm sure they're legit about it as they're giving it away with purchase and went pretty in depth with the differences between masters.

Have you actually listened to both yet or is it a tough pick. Dynamics aren't the only part of a master.

Also...I need an LP needledrop DR rating stat. Lol

I'm downloading the audiophile master as we speak.  The normal one does sound super loud compared to other music I listen to (not really modern stuff in this genre) But my god this album is great.

Finally have a bit of time and am listening now to the audiophile WAV.  Was really surprised that there is such a small difference between the two versions, at least as far as dynamic range goes.

Sounds pretty clean.  I haven't listened to the regular version yet, though.

"Everything" sounds like ass, which is fine by me because I can't stand it anyway.
