That's really strange. I find the SP1000 to be so much more powerful from the balanced output than the AK380.

Does that mean you would advise against getting the SP1000 if I have the AK380/AMP combo? Is there any improvement in SQ going from AK380 to SP1000, significant or worthwhile?

curious too what, are your thought on SQ between the two, minus the amp. Just an impression on the two daps, AK380 and SP1000.

I received my SP1000 few days ago. My friend loaned me a Sony WM1Z for the weekend, since he selling it.

I will be posting my impressions next week between the two players. Right off the bat, beautiful display and fast OS in the SP1000. Like others said is noticeable the improvement in SQ with the AK380. The equalizer is a joke, instead of +/-5db I would say is +/-1db. Is not about if you need EQ or not, just if you offer a feature I believe should work as expected.

I love using eq when the eq works well. With AK their eq has never been good, its useless.

AK remote looks terrible, too big and non convinient. I am thinking about changing my sony wm1a for sp1k, but do you know - is it possible to connect ak player to sony remote?

Yes please NOMAX if you come to CanJam London can you bring your Utopia balanced so that I can try it with my SP1000 in a quiet environment. I am indeed disappointed by SP1000 + HEX so I believe I need to find an Headphone which offer better synergy with the SP1000 SS.

Anybody tried the USB-C digital out of the SP1000 ? I tried with the DAC of my KSE1500, HUGO and Nagra HD DAC and only KSE 1500 DAC seems to work, but useless since the quality is inferior. On both HUGO and HD DAC cracks and interruptions while playing music, on both pcm and dsd. I tried different OTG adaptors but all the same. How to inform A&K about this shortcoming ? With my AK380 digital out via USB is sounding very good on the Nagra, but not working on the HD input of HUGO.

and did you tried Optical-out of the SP1000 into the NAGRA ? How does it sound ?
