I recently purchased a pair of Sony MDR-V6 and I love them except for the looong coiled cable.  I just received a pair of Shure SRH-440s - the cable is removable and a straight cable is available.  They sound just as good but they are a little big and heavy compared to the Sony's.  I need something portable.
 
I can't decide what to do... thought about recabling the Sonys but I've never done it and it doesn't sound easy. 
 
Any suggestions?  Any other folding/portable pair I should consider that has a straight cable?

I listen to mostly indie, classic rock, and lately a lot of LCD Soundsystem.  MP3 files on my macbook and iphone.
 
Budget is around $85.

Anyone?  I'm leaning towards getting the Sony's recabled right now - but can't find anywhere to have it done that won't cost more than the cans themselves...!

I'm sure you will find what you need there. You can select the models you are interested in, and ask for advice on which to choose if you're not sure.
