Hi there,
it's 11 years now I daily use my beloved Sennheiser HD 595 headphones. I'm about to buy a Topping DX3 Pro+ and I wonder which new headphone could be a noticeable improvement over my 595 without spending too much. I mainly listen to rock/metal/blues/jazz... well almost anything except for hip-hop, disco, etc.

Thanks!

Do you love that Sennheiser sound? Or do you want something different?

What's your budget exactly?

I can say I really like my 595 but I don't exactly know what is the "Sennheiser sound" since the 595 are the only good headphones I've ever had.
With "not too expensive" I was thinking about 250€/$ or so. I don't know if for that amount there is something noticeably better than the 595s. I hope.

At 250-300 euros used is the Hifiman Sundara, which is in my opinion, a change in every way.

There are slightly cheaper options but I'd look into this one and see if it's something you might like.

Even after I sold it, I still consider repurchasing.

I agree the Hifiman Sundara is a clear upgrade, Hifiman has a new in box discounted section on their site which come with warranty and good discount.
The other would be the Beyerdynamic DT880 250ohm, or the black edition if you want a little more bass. If you like the fit and sound, the HD6XX Sennheiser/Drop has better detail.

Used Sennheiser HD580/HD600/HD650 or new HD6xx. Assuming you liked your HD595 a Beyerdynamic DT880 will sound bright comparatively. The improvements over the HD595 will be mainly the bass, a cost will be the earpads which are more expensive to replace than the HD595.
