Any recommendations regarding the best gain settings for Sennheiser HD598? The standard settings are 2.5x/6.5x. Are they good or should I use custom ones?

Thanks in advance!

1x and 3.5x gain settings are the best gain settings to have on the O2 when feeding it from a dac like the ODAC. You'll probably leave it in 1x gain 99% of the time. I have yet to find a reason to use 3.5x gain on my O2. 1x gain has much more than enough to power the majority of headphones.

Those headphones are low impedance and high sensitivity, so you should go with low gain settings, maybe even 1x and using the amp as a simple current buffer.

What about if you paired the amp with say the HD 700's? Would you still get the 1x and 3.5x's?

Yep. I don't have the 700's but the specs say it's only 150 ohms? Looks like it's even easier to drive than the 650/600.

What gain options for the HD650?...

1x and 3.5x. I struggled with this choice too before buying but after doing research and asking around I see this is the best choice.

So got my O2 amp&dac today and the gain settings were spot on for my HD598. Thanks!

Also, what would be the best settings for the amp in the audio device settings? 24bit/44100hz?
