Great! I believe the A1 is going to be at least on par with the D200+ with AKM 4497 in terms of SQ if not better! Could you please provide any comparisons of your D200+ with other DAPs you heard? That would be very useful:)
Hello. How it can be better then d200+????? +-7 V against +-12,5 ? Real Class A in D200+ against class "?" (AB I think - because of the battery life time) ??? Elna Silmic 2 caps in D200+ against SMD in A1? And many many more... It can be the best among Android based DAPs, but it will not reach the SQ of the d200+...

Higher voltage of the power supply does not necessarily mean better sound quality:) I guess, the reasons behind stepping down to +-7V in A1 from +-12.5V in D200+ standard edition (with AKM 4495SEQ DAC) were: 1) The 4497EQ DAC in A1 (as well as in D200+ special edition) requires 5.25V max for its analog part, while the 4495SEQ used in D200+ standard edition requires 4.75~7.2V for its operation-no reason for 12.5V or even 10.5V power supply; 2) the A1 uses some custom made (as its specs state) OP amps designed with low power supply voltage in mind, which were used in the signal path after the two MUSES 8920 connected to the differential DAC outputs. With these solutions implemented the Yin Lu Mei managed to increase the battery life from 4-6 hours (D200+) to approx. 8 hours on the A1. Again, these are my guesses based on the info available. Though I can quote the A1 manufacturer from my mailing with them. As they were answering my question whether the A1 will sound better than the D200+, they wrote: "The voice of A1 in D400+ (4497EQ) on the upgrade to the background, more clean, change songs but also solve the sonic boom" whatever it means:) The original is: "A1的声音在D400+(4497EQ)上升级而来,背景更加干净,换歌的爆音也解决了" Again, I don't say that D200+ sounds worse, unfortunately, I had no chance to hear it yet. Quite the contrary, I think that both DAPs are killers in terms of their SQ!:)

My quick take on the argument above, that quite expensive Chinese DAP might really be intended for the Chinese market. With Smartphones, the Chinese version of something like Xiaomi smartphones is quite different.

I am intrigued by it, but cannot expect anything in particular, I know that getting a DAP to work and to work well requires quite a lot R&D and development, if they are new, either it is really targeted for the Chinese needs and market, or might have a little bit of a beta firmware with Hiby, like AP200 which works well , but still needs an update or two.

Hello everybody,

I have a question because I have just convinced my wife to get rid of the iPod nano 6th gen finally and to let me buy her a proper entry-level audiophile dap. So can anyone share an opinion about the Ruizu A50, as I have read and heard only good news being the best in the 40-50 pound range? Just trying to introduce her into this audiophile world as well, baby steps :)
Thank you

My wife got hold of my A50 after I finished reviewing it and she basically said I wouldn't be getting it back. Only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't sort files, need to use something like DriveSort.

You mean it will not see separate folders as I will upload on the sd card and it will just scramble all files together?

... but still needs an update or two...
And with a new product from a new (to us) manufacturer might never get these updates at all.
Some people are very enthausiastic here and think it must be the best thing since sliced bread based on hardware components and features purely.
As we all (should) know the firmware can have a HUGE impact on sound quality, good hardware components or not. And then there is the user experience that makes quite a difference too.
So I'd say better save your money for now and wait it out. It looks great and interesting though.

For the one that feels he/she/it needs to burn his/her/its money quickly I'd be happy to offer my bank account number

If you have the money I'd advice you to seriously consider the Shanling M1.
The user interface is much better, it shows al album art, has Bluetooth with Apt-X, gapless play, and then some.
The Ruizu is great and I wouldn't want to miss it (though I don't use it) but for the lady I would advice you to buy a more refined product. The M1's shape is also a bit more woman friendly.

Thank you and I know about the M1 but it is far more expensive and she really doesn't make the difference yet :). I personally own and use the Cayin N3 which again is slightly more expensive than M1 and better ofcourse. Once she will start developing taste for better sound and better DAP I will get her whatever she wants as she deserves the best. She wanted to keep the bloody iPod because it is little...the hell with Apple products...I don't want to see any Apple inside my home at least :)

Check out JoyBuy.com. The M1 is surely not more expensive than the N3.

Cayin N3 is almost double the price, I know. I managed to find the M1 at 87 pounds on eBay UK. I will ask her if she wants it because she didn't want me to buy her a mp3 player too expensive.

At the moment the M1 is too expensive on JoyBuy but the price is fuctuating by the day. I have seen it for as low as €68 there!
