Optical or Coaxial?

recently got my home AV system and i'm trying to find out whats the best way to connect my DVD player to the receiver. should i go either optical or coaxial? i'm thinking the optical is the best bet but not quite sure. any suggestions?

The old conventional wisdom was that coax was generally better than optical. This has also been my experience. There are some on this board, however, that completely disagree with this.

Probably, either is fine. Connecting a DVD player to a receiver suggests that you are not in the upper eschelon of mega-buck systems where this will make a whole lot of a difference to you. So, you should probably go with whatever is easier.

If you hardly ever plan on unplugging it, I'd say you should get the cheapest glass toslink cable you can find. If you'll need to unplug it with any frequency you'll want to get a decent coax cable (truly 75 ohms impedance), instead, because optical i/o gets dirty easily and dirt causes reflections.
