My friend is looking for a Over-Ear, Wireless, Active-Noise-Cancelling Headphone with Mic and Remote to be used with smartphone and to manage calls.
 
He tried the Sony MDR-XB950BT and he felt it had a bit too much bass for his taste. He does want bass, but not to the extent of XB950. His budget is around $150. He listens to a "wide variety of genres" - his words.
 
Could you please recommend some headphones with the above mentioned specifications?
 
And also FYI, he liked the sound of JBL Everest Elite 700. But it is a little over his budget. at $230

Probably too late for you to notice, but there are a few options at $200 I know of.
 
- Crutchfield has refurbished PSB M4U 2's for $200.
EDIT: Whoops, didn't realize these weren't wireless. Still, they're an excellent option.
- The Parrot Zik 2's go for $200, and you may be able to get it for lower.
- You can find the Plantronics Backbeat Pro for less than $200 these days.
- If he liked the Everest Elite 700, he should also consider the Elite 300. Based on feedback here, the sound of the 300 is better than that of the 700, and it's cheaper as well.
