I'm sitting close to a wall on one side (about 2-3 feet away) wear my HD 700 which are open headphones and they get pretty loud to my surroundings. I notice a very slight imbalance in volume louder on the side facing the wall. At first, I try adjusting the position of the headphones to no avail. Finally, I'm thinking maybe the sound is reflecting off the wall and feeding it back to my ear on that side. I turn around and I think I actually hear the other side which now facing the wall subtly louder. Could this proximity to the wall be a legitimate cause of the slight imbalance?

If your hearing is sensitive enough, yes it's possible. I had it happen with a few open cans of mine, usually those with larger diaphragms.
